GTA 6 File Size Is Reportedly 210GB on PS5, According to PlayStation Store Data

PlayStation Store data shows the standard edition of GTA 6 needs 210GB on PS5. Rockstar hasn't confirmed the figure yet, but it's time to start clearing space.

GTA 6 will take up about 210GB of storage on PS5. The figure, which applies to the game's standard edition, comes from PlayStation Store data shared on October 27, 2026 by the PlayStation Game Size account, and was quickly picked up by GameSpot, GamesRadar+ and Dexerto. Insider Gaming says it can corroborate the number. Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed it.

How many GB do you need to install GTA 6?

According to information now visible in PlayStation Store data, the GTA 6 download on PS5 comes in at 210GB. PlayStation Game Size, an account that regularly tracks install sizes ahead of launch, flagged it on October 27. Its numbers have proven reliable so far, and several major gaming outlets, including GameSpot, GamesRadar+ and Dexerto, ran with the figure soon after. Insider Gaming says it is able to confirm it.

Two caveats still apply. First, Rockstar hasn't released any official spec sheet. Second, the final size could change: a day-one patch would come on top of the preloaded data, as is often the case with big releases.

What about Xbox Series X|S?

No equivalent data has turned up on the Microsoft Store yet, so it's unclear whether the Xbox Series X|S version will need the same amount of space as the PS5 version. As a reminder, GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on those two console families only, and a PC version still hasn't been announced, as we covered in our piece on GTA 6 on PC.

Should you clear space on your console?

Almost certainly. On a launch-model PS5, which offers around 667GB of usable storage, GTA 6 alone would eat up nearly a third of the available space. Players who keep several big games installed will likely need to delete a few, or consider adding an SSD.

That goes for boxed copies too: the physical edition of GTA 6 contains a download code rather than a disc. Whichever format you pick, you'll have to download the whole game. All the practical details are in our GTA 6 preload guide.

Why is GTA 6 so big?

The file size reflects the scale of the project. GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida, with the sprawling city of Vice City, its swamps, islands and small towns. Rockstar also told Bloomberg the game features hundreds of explorable interiors, a level of detail that inevitably costs gigabytes. For a better sense of the playground, our GTA 6 map guide breaks down every region.

At 210GB, GTA 6 would rank, according to Insider Gaming, among the largest games ever released. That won't surprise anyone who has followed the game since its reveal, given how much every trailer has played up the density of its open world.
