In its preorder announcement on June 25, 2026, Rockstar described GTA 6 as a game offering a single-player experience. The studio has revealed neither a multiplayer mode nor a release date for a possible "GTA 6 Online."
When did Rockstar's past online modes launch?
- GTA Online arrived on October 1, 2013, two weeks after GTA V.
- Red Dead Online opened in beta about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2.
So Rockstar has a habit of launching the single-player adventure first, then the online mode a few weeks later. But there's no guarantee GTA 6 will follow the same timeline.
