GTA 6 Officially Rated PEGI 18: What It Means for Players and Parents

GTA 6 is rated PEGI 18 in Europe: the game is officially intended for adults. In the US, it received an M (Mature 17+) rating, and in Germany a USK 18 rating. An expected outcome for a series known for its explicit content.

Why is GTA 6 rated PEGI 18?

Like GTA V before it, GTA 6 ticks every box for an adults-only game: intense violence and blood, drug and alcohol use, nudity, explicit sexual content and crude humor. The detailed listing PEGI published was actually pulled shortly after going live, because it revealed so many details about the game.

What does PEGI 18 mean?

The PEGI 18 rating means the game is considered suitable for adults only. It's a recommendation that guides parents and retailers. It does not legally prohibit a minor from playing.

How can parents set up parental controls for GTA 6?

On both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, parental controls let you block games above a certain age rating and limit in-game purchases and playtime. These options are found in the console settings or in the manufacturer's mobile app.
