© Rockstar Games Three weeks before launch, GTA 6 has reportedly already racked up 6.45 million digital pre-orders, worth roughly $630 million in revenue. That's the estimate from analytics firm Sensor Tower, as of October 18, 2026, reported by GamesIndustry.biz and Insider Gaming. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed the figures.
How many pre-orders does GTA 6 have?
According to Sensor Tower's public tracker, updated weekly, GTA 6 had 6.45 million digital pre-orders as of October 18, 2026. The firm attributes about 4.80 million of them to PlayStation consoles and 1.66 million to Xbox consoles, a split of roughly 74% to 26%.
Momentum remains strong heading into launch. In its previous snapshot, on October 13, Sensor Tower put the total at about 6.08 million pre-orders, meaning the game added nearly 370,000 reservations in less than a week. In its first public snapshot, at the end of July, the firm cited around 4 million pre-orders.
How much money has GTA 6 already made?
Again according to Sensor Tower, those pre-orders represent about $630 million: roughly $468 million on PlayStation and roughly $162 million on Xbox. Divided by the number of pre-orders, that works out to an average spend close to $98, which suggests a large majority of players went for the Ultimate Edition. Back in August, the firm estimated that nearly nine out of ten pre-orders were for that edition, which we break down in our GTA 6 pre-order guide.
Keep in mind that these are amounts paid by players, not what the publisher takes home after platform fees.
Are these numbers reliable?
They should be taken with caution. Sensor Tower doesn't have access to Rockstar's sales data: its figures are estimates built with its own measurement tools. They only cover digital pre-orders, so physical copies sold in stores aren't counted. The exact geographic scope also varies depending on how trade outlets report it.
Still, the estimates point to a clear trend. In the United States, Sensor Tower says GTA 6's digital pre-orders are 148% higher than those of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II at the same point before its 2022 launch. That's a major benchmark for one of the most anticipated launches in video game history.
Why is PS5 so dominant?
The gap between PlayStation and Xbox is no surprise: the PS5 has a much larger installed base than Xbox Series X|S. The game is also launching only on those two platforms on November 19, 2026, with no PC version announced for launch. Players who have already reserved a copy will be able to preload it starting November 12.
