What is GTA 6's official release time?
There isn't one yet. Rockstar's announcements, including the launch trailer drop on October 15, 2026, give only the November 19, 2026, date with no time attached. Neither Sony nor Microsoft has published an official unlock time.
The only official timing Rockstar has shared so far was for pre-orders, which opened June 25, 2026, at midnight local time, according to Rockstar and Take-Two's press release. That hints at Rockstar's approach, but it isn't a guarantee for launch.

According to regional PlayStation Store listings reported by several outlets in September 2026, GTA 6 would unlock at midnight local time in each country, creating a rolling launch: New Zealand first, North America and Mexico last. These are store metadata entries that can change, not a Rockstar announcement. For the US and Canada, some listings suggest a single unlock tied to Eastern time, which would mean 9 p.m. PT on November 18 on the West Coast; that's unconfirmed too. No Xbox timing has been made public.

When can you preload GTA 6?
- Official date: from November 10, 2026, for digital copies, nine days before launch, per Rockstar (announced November 3, 2026). The boxed version, which contains a code, hits stores November 12.
- Start time: on PS5, midnight local time in each region; on Xbox Series X|S, midnight GMT worldwide, which is 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET on November 9.
- File size: up to 212 GB depending on the device, according to Rockstar; a day-one patch may add to it.

Does the boxed version unlock at the same time as digital?
The physical box doesn't contain a disc, just a download code, according to Rockstar, and it's in stores from November 12, 2026. Boxed buyers can preload too, two days after digital buyers, and the game will unlock for everyone at the same moment based on their account. No midnight store run for a disc needed. What should you do on GTA 6 launch night?
- Preload from November 10 (November 12 for the boxed version) and confirm the download hits 100%.
- Clear storage: a launch PS5 has about 667 GB usable, and the game, at up to 212 GB per Rockstar, will take up nearly a third of it.
- Leave the console connected in rest mode to grab any launch-day patch.
- Check your account region: with a midnight local time launch, it determines when the game unlocks.
- Dodge spoilers: with a rolling launch, players in New Zealand and Australia could start many hours before the US.
